Switzerland’s Sina Frei beat compatriot Alessandra Keller to the women’s under-23 cross-country title at the European Mountain Bike Championships in the Italian commune of Darfo Boario Terme today.

Frei clocked a time of 1 hour 7min 8.85sec, beating Keller by a margin of 51.72sec.

Rounding out the podium was The Netherlands’ Anne Tauber in 1:08:22.70.

In the men’s junior cross-country event, Spain’s Jofre Cullell Estape came out on top in 59:18.30.

Switzerland’s Alexandre Balmer finished second in 1:00:29.12, while France’s Benjamin Le Ny came third in 1:00:38.80.

Austria’s Laura Stigger prevailed in the women’s junior cross-country event, posting a time of 53:23.27.

The silver medal went to France’s Loana Lecomte in 53:55.54 and the bronze was won by Denmark’s Caroline Bohe in 54:33.51.

The men’s under-23 event and elite races will bring the Championships to a close tomorrow.
