Hosts The Netherlands and Denmark each qualified for the quarter-finals at the UEFA Women’s European Championships today after winning their final matches in Group A.

The Dutch continued the host nation's perfect record at Rotterdam's Sparta Stadion Het Kasteel with a 2-1 victory over Belgium.

Sherida Spitse gave the home side the lead inside the opening half hour before Tessa Wullaert equalised soon after the interval.

But a deflected shot from Barcelona winger Lieke Martens gave the Dutch all three points with 16 minutes left.

The ball looped over unsuspecting goalkeeper Sari van Veenendaal to end Belgian hopes of progressing.

Norway, finalists in 2013, also crashed out courtesy of a fifth minute goal by Katrine Veje.

The two-time champions had a golden chance to level before a missed penalty from Caroline Graham Hansen.

Several more missed chances allowed Denmark to hold on and progress at the De Adelaarshorst Stadion in Deventer.

Russia will play Germany while Sweden lock horns with Italy in the final two Group B matches tomorrow.
