Ernest Bokros will remain as the head coach of the Slovakian under-20 national team as they prepare for the World Junior Championship in Buffalo.

Bokros will lead the team for the seventh consecutive year, having first been placed in charge back in 2011.

The 57-year-old, who has coaching experience in top Czech and Slovakia leagues, guided the country to a third place finish at the 2015 World Junior Championship.

Miroslav Satan, who was recently appointed in a dual role of general manager and head of the national team programme last month, expressed his delight at Bokros agreeing to remain in the post.

“Bokros has led the under-20 national team for a long time, had success with it and we consider him at the moment as the best choice for this position,” Satan said.

“Although he stopped as head coach of the under-20 national team after the last season, I asked him to extend for another year.

“I’m glad he agreed.”

Bokros will select from 34 nominated players to form the under-20 team, who will then play a tournament in Zilina with the Czech Republic, Germany and Switzerland from July 28 to 30.

They will then hone their preparations for the World Junior Championships by competing in a top Slovakian league.
