Norway and Sweden claimed the men’s and women’s team relay titles respectively as action came to a close at the 2017 Junior World Orienteering Championships in Tampere today.

The Norwegian squad of Kasper Fosser, Elias Jonsson and Audun Heimdal proved fastest in the men’s event and won in a time of 1 hour 28min 23sec.

Olli Ojanaho has won three individual gold medals this week in the Finnish city but was forced to settle for silver in the relay.

He was part of the home Finland team, alongside Aleksi Sorsa and Akseli Ruohola, who took second in 1:29:58.

Russia’s squad of Daniil Kashin, Kirill Komarov and Mikhail Kuleshov rounded out the podium over two minutes behind the winners in 1:30:29.

Sweden were comfortable winners in the women’s event.

The trio of Lisa Jonsson Nordin, Sanna Fast and Linnea Golsater crossed the line in 1:34:15 to take gold.

Similarly to Ojanaho, Simona Aebersold of Switzerland has taken three individual titles this weekend but could only manage silver in the relay.

She was joined by Valerie Aebischer and Sofie Bachmann, who won long distance bronze yesterday, as they finished in 1:36:00.

Norway’s Victoria Haestad Bjornstad, Ingrid Lundanes and Marie Olaussen took third place, but finished well behind the top two teams in a time of 1:39:21.
