Ostersund has been announced as the host of the World Para Ice Hockey qualification tournament for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Paralympics.
The Swedish city will stage the tournament from October 9 to 14, with the event offering a final chance to qualify for next year’s Games.
Reigning world champions Canada, the United States, hosts South Korea, Norway and Italy have already booked their places at PyeongChang 2018.
Sweden will be hopeful competing in front of their home crowd will give them the edge as they aim to secure one of three places available.
They were beaten by Italy in the fifth-place game at the World Para Ice Hockey World Championships A-Pool in Gangneung earlier this year, when the first five spots were awarded.
Sweden will face the challenge of the Czech Republic, Germany, Japan and Slovakia are confirmed teams for the qualifying tournament.
The hosts will be hoping to qualify for the Games and end their medal drought at a Paralympics or World Championships A-Pool, having not won a medal since the 2004 World Championships when they claimed bronze.
Germany will hope for a better performance than they managed in Gangneung, where they finished in last place in World Championships A-Pool.
Ostersund has been a regular host of para ice hockey competition in recent years, having staged the European Championships in 2016.
Russia emerged as the winners of the Championships, which took place at the Ostersund Arena.
Ostersund was also the venue for the 2015 World Championships B-Pool.
