UEFA Champions League winners Real Madrid and English Premier League side Manchester United have selected the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) as their base for the west coast leg of their pre-season tours to the United States.

Los Angeles 2024 claim two of the world's biggest football clubs using their proposed Olympic and Paralympic village highlights two of their main bid commitments - "maximising the use of existing facilities and putting the athletes’ experience at the heart of the Games, in line with Olympic Agenda 2020".

Players from Spanish club Real Madrid and Manchester United, who won last season's UEFA Europa League, will use the same sports, medical, dining and leisure facilities which will be available to Olympians and Paralympians should the American city host the Games.

The two sides will both play matches at proposed Los Angeles 2024 venues during their respective tours.

Real Madrid are due to face Manchester City at the LA Memorial Coliseum on July 26, the planned venue for athletics and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Manchester United play LA Galaxy at their home StubHub Center stadium, which forms part of the South Bay Sports Park, on Saturday (July 15).

"We’re delighted that out of all the possible venues across the US, Manchester United and Real Madrid chose to use LA 2024's Olympic and Paralympic Village at UCLA as their pre-season training base," Los Angeles 2024 chairman Casey Wasserman said.

"UCLA is a paradise for elite athletes – it has already produced 420 Olympians from 45 countries.

"The quality of the campus means Los Angeles 2024 can offer the world’s athletes a home-from-hone with state-of-the-art facilities, while eliminating the risk and billions of dollars in construction inherent in building a facility from scratch.

"The Olympic and Paralympic Village at UCLA was the logical, responsible and Olympic Agenda 2020-compliant choice for Los Angeles 2024."

Los Angeles claim to be currently focusing only on their 2024 bid race with sole rival Paris.

However, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) are due to rubber-stamp plans to also award the 2028 edition this year during an Extraordinary Session tomorrow and Wednesday (July 12).

If this is confirmed, both events will be awarded to either Los Angeles and Paris at the IOC Session on September 13 in Lima.
