A deal has been agreed which will see Australian company Sting provide equipment for the boxing events at next year's Commonwealth Games in the Gold Coast.

Competition in the ring at next year’s event is scheduled to take place between April 5 and 14 at the Oxenford Studios.

Sting has experience of providing equipment at major sports events, including the last Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014 and last year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Gold Coast 2018 chairman Peter Beattie said it was great to have the company involved.

"Sting will supply the Games with elite products ensuring every boxer at the Games is using a product of unrivalled quality made by an Australian company," Beattie said.

Amir Anis, director of Sting, claimed the company are "very proud" to have secured the deal for the event on home soil.

"We’re thrilled to be able to be involved with Gold Coast 2018 and cannot wait to see all athletes have the chance to fulfil their dreams," he said.

"As the sole Australian owned company licenced by the International Boxing Association, it’s only natural for Sting to supply the equipment to Gold Coast 2018."
