The United States’ Danielle Kang and South Korea's Chella Choi are tied for the lead on 10-under-par following the third round of the Women's PGA Championships at Olympia Fields Country Club in Illinois.

Kang shot a three-under-par 68 while Choi birdied the 18th hole for a round of 67 to pull level with just 18 holes remaining.

The duo lead a congested field with no less than 14 players within five shots of the pair.

Another South Korean, Jiyai Shin, is in third on eight-under for the tournament after carding a seven-under 64 today, the lowest score of the third round.

A former world number one and the 2008 and 2012 British Open champion hit birdies on the first and 18th holes, along with a stretch of five more between holes 9 and 15, 

Canada's defending champion Brooke Henderson is a shot further behind and remains well in contention to retain her title after shooting a two-under 69.

There is a large contingent on five-under who may be able to make a late charge for the title on Sunday.

Americans Michelle Wie, Lexi Thompson, Kim Kaufman and Gerina Piller form part of the bunch alongside Madelene Sagström of Sweden, South Korea's Mi Hyang Lee, Ryu So-yeon and Sung Hyun Park.

Kaufman jumped into the top 10 with a third round, two-under 69.

Prior to a bogey on the 17th, the 25-year-old enjoyed 31 consecutive holes without dropping a stroke going back to the third hole in the second round.

Candie Kung of Chinese Taipei and Thailand's Moriya Jutanugarn also find themselves on five-under.
