Switzerland’s Nino Schurter will be looking to make it three International Cycling Union Mountain Bike World Cup stage wins in a row this season when he takes on the cross-country course at Vallnord in Andorra.

The reigning Olympic champion topped the podiums at Nove Mesto in the Czech Republic and the German city of Albstadt and heads the entry list for the third race of the cross-country section of the competition, which takes place on Sunday (July 2).

A strong field of riders will be in Andorra which includes the two men who have been pushed into second place by Schurter this season, Spain’s David Valero Serrano and Dutchman Mathieu van der Poel.

The women’s cross-country race will be held on the same day and features current Olympic champion Jenny Rissveds alongside the two stage winners from this season, Ukrainian Yana Belomoina and Danish rider Annika Langvad.

Tomorrow will see the first day of race with the men’s and women’s downhill taking place.

Reigning women’s World Cup champion Rachel Atherton of Great Britain will be hoping to grab her second win of the season when she sets off.

She faces stiff competition though from the likes of her team-mate Tahnee Seagrave and Australia’s Tracey Hannah.

In the men’s race, Aaron Gwin of the United States will look to use his success from the last race in Leogang, Austria, as he bids for a third straight World Cup crown.
