Turkey were pushed all the way in their International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) European Championships quarter-final in Tenerife by Italy before advancing with a 66-63 victory.

The Turkish, who claimed top place in Group B by ending Great Britain’s unbeaten run, were once again thankful for the scoring instincts of Ozgur Gurbulak.

The 2012 Paralympian maintained his position at the top of the tournament’s goalscoring rankings as he contributed 23 of the points.

Defending champions Britain also came through their quarter-final with a 96-69 victory over Poland, with Gaz Chowdhry scoring 27 points and Terry Bywater 24.

The Netherlands, winners of Group A, beat Israel 63-49 without much stress.

Germany beat Spain 70-63 in the last of the quarter-finals.

In the matches to determine the lower placings for the tournament, France, fifth in Group A, beat Group B's bottom team Lithuania 68-62.

In the reverse match, Group A’s bottom team Switzerland earned a 61-56 win over Sweden, who finished a place above Lithuania.

Matches are being played at the Pabellón Las Torres and Pabellón Polideportivo Municipal de Adeje venues.
