The Island Games sporting action began in Gotland ©Island Games

Jersey won all four triathlon golds available as sporting action began at the Island Games in Gotland today.

Daniel Halksworth won the men's title on the Swedish island, in front of Menorca's Nil Riudavets Victory.

Bobby Oag of Orkney took the bronze medal.

Halksworth also teamed up with Demri Mitchell, Richard Tanguy and Oliver Turner to win the men's team title on the Swedish island.

Fellow Channel Island Guernsey were second with Gibraltar third.

In the women's event, Joanne Gorrod took top honours for Jersey.

Anna Karina Ottosen of the Faroe Islands came home with silver as another Jersey triathlete, Melissa Messervy-Gross, took bronze.

Both Jersey medallists helped their island win the women's team event, alongside Claire Kybett and Katie Silva.

Guernsey were second with the Shetland Islands third.

Elsewhere, hosts Gotland enjoyed three gold medals in shooting competition.

Stefan Nyberg won the men's 25 metre black powder revolver event, with the island also clinching team titles in 10m air rifle and 50m free pistol. 

Three golds were won in athletics with Genro Paas of Saaremaa winning the men's hammer with a throw of 66.45m.

Andrew Frost of the Isle of Wight managed 65.39 for silver as Richard Bell of the Isle of Man recorded 49.52 for a distant bronze.

Joshua Hewett of the Isle of Man clinched men's high jump gold, clearing 2.01m.

Ynys Mon won silver as Iwan Perry recorded 1.98 and Jason Fox won bronze for Jersey, managing 1.96m.

On the track, Oliver Lockley won the 10,000m for Isle of Man, clocking 30min 37.46sec.

He edged Lee Merrien of Guernsey who was timed at 30.40.84, with Daniel Antonsson of Gotland clinching home bronze in 32.09.95.
