Local hero Stephane Houdet made it through to the semi-finals of the men's wheelchair tennis singles event at the 2017 Open de France in Paris today.

The tournament's second seed delighted the home crowd as he beat Great Britain's Alfie Hewett, the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games silver medallist, 6-1, 4-6, 7-6.

Awaiting Houdet in the final four is Gustavo Fernandez of Argentina, seeded third.

Fernandez also needed three sits to ensure victory, but eventually beat Sweden's Stefan Olsson 6-2, 5-7, 7-5.

Top seed Gordon Reid of Great Britain is also through.

The Rio 2016 champion overcame Maikel Scheffers of The Netherlands 7-6, 6-0.

Awaiting the Briton is Japan's Shingo Kunieda who defeated France's Nicolas Peifer 6-2, 6-2.

David Wagner of the United States is safely through to the quad singles final.

The top seed eased to a 6-0, 6-4 straight-sets win over Lucas Sithole of South Africa.

Wagner will now meet Britain's Andy Lapthorne in the final after he recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win over Sam Schroder of The Netherlands.

Competition comes just weeks before the second Grand Slam of the season, with wheelchair tennis action on the grass at Wimbledon scheduled for July 13 to 16.

The event is an International Tennis Federation Super Series competition.
