Ski and Snowboard Australia (SSA) have selected six teenagers for their snowboard cross emerging talent scheme.

All of the youngsters are considered to have "high potential" with the ability to achieve success for Australia on the international stage.

The emerging talent scheme aims to "maximise and fast track their pathway opportunities" and prepare them for future competitions.

Charlotte Batten, Georgia Crisp, Cora McClosky, Bryn Nicholas, Angus Pennington and Christina Taylor are the athletes selected.

They will all receive training and support to compete at International Ski Federation (FIS) snowboard cross races in July and August at the Mount Hotham Alpine Resort in Australia.

An SSA performance camp, led by Olympic Winter Institute of Australia head coach Ben Wordsworth, will also take place.

"We are excited about the level of athletes that have been offered scholarships," said Wordsworth.

"We started the programme to continue the pathway and progression in snowboard cross in Australia and as a way to progress the younger generation through great coaching support and services."

Other talent schemes are taking place in Australia in the halfpipe and moguls disciplines.

Australia already boats senior pedigree in snowboard cross, with Alex Pullin a two-time world champion.

He won his global titles in 2011 in La Molina in Spain and 2013 in Stoneham, Canada.

Belle Brockhoff won two races on the FIS World Cup circuit during 2016-17, finishing third overall.
