Serbia and Russia were crowned as winners of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) 3x3 World Cup as competition concluded in Nantes.

The Serbians were the defending champions in the men’s competition and they successfully retained their title by going unbeaten at the Parc des Chantiers.

Having won all four group matches, Serbia secured an impressive 17-14 win over the United States to reach the semi-finals today.

They would then end home hopes of success by achieving a comfortable 22-11 victory against France to secure a place in the gold medal match.

Serbia’s opponents would be The Netherlands, who edged Slovenia 13-12 in their semi-final.

A tight final would see the Serbian team come out on top as they triumphed 21-18 to defend their title.

Having now won three of the four editions of the World Cup, Serbia will be eagerly eyeing the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, with FIBA successfully seeing the discipline added to the programme earlier this month.
