Two-time pairs figure skating world champions Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford have announced they have split with their coach.

The Canadians will no longer be guided by Richard Gauthier as the Winter Olympic Games approach in Pyeongchang in South Korea in February.

Bruno Marcotte will now act as the duo's head coach with support from John Zimmerman.

John Kerr has joined the set-up as the pair's choreographer, alongside Julie Marcotte.

"Meagan and I thank Richard from the bottom of our hearts for all he has done for us," said Radford.

"His influence in our lives will extend far beyond the arena.

"This was an extremely difficult decision but now we will concentrate and focus on the important upcoming season."

Radford and Duhamel, who are 32 and 31 respectively, won back-to-back world pairs titles in Shanghai in 2015 and Boston last year.

They also won the silver medal at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games and are two-time Four Continents champions.

In 2015, they won the International Skating Union Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final gold medal.

"Eric and I felt like we wanted to make some changes to our training," Duhamel added.

"We will be forever grateful to Richard.

"Everything we’ve achieved in our career wouldn’t have been possible without him.

"We wish him the best."
