Henrik Bach Nielsen has been returned as President of the Danish Ice Hockey Federation (DIU).

The official was re-elected unopposed at the governing body's general assembly.

Bach Nielsen, also a Council member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), will now serve a third four-year term.

He was returned to office by unanimous acclamation.

It means that Bach Nielsen will be at the helm when Denmark hosts the IIHF Men's World Championships next year.

Matches will be shared between capital city Copenhagen and Herning between May 4 and 20, with the event described as the biggest-ever to take place in the country.

Denmark defeated a bid from Latvia to earn the right to stage the flagship competition.

The country finished 12th at this year's men's World Championships in Paris and Cologne.

They have played in the top division of the event since 2003 and reached the quarter-finals in both 2010 and 2016.
