Germany's Bettina Hoy remains in the lead at the Luhmuhlen Horse Trials after cross-country action today.

The 54-year-old, a team eventing Olympic bronze medallist at Los Angeles 1984, took over the lead after the second round of dressage action yesterday.

Riding Designer, she remained on top following a cross-country display that featured no faults.

Her time of 11min 4sec was also within the optimum time of 11:11 at the Luhmuhlen showgrounds.

Hoy's leading score is 36.00 with only the show jumping to come tomorrow at the event in front of her home fans in Germany.

The competition is the fifth leg of the International Equestrian Federation's (FEI) Classics season for eventing.

Another German, Julia Krajewski, is second on Samurai du Thot with a score of 37.10.

She finished the cross-country in 11:01 with no faults, as the top two remained unchanged.

Nicola Wilson of Britain, riding Bulana, is third on 38.70 after a time of 11.07, also with no faults.  

Hoy won the event in 2005 with Ringwood Cockatoo.
