Lima 2019, a new sub-office and key programmes for the next four years are all set to be discussed at a Pan American Sports Organization (PASO) Executive Committee meeting here tomorrow.

It is one of the first major gatherings of the regional sports community since the election of Neven Ilic as President of PASO at the General Assembly in Punte Del Este in Uruguay in April.

Top officials from National Olympic Committees across the Pan Americas are then due to attend a two-day Best Practices Seminar starting here on Tuesday (June 13) organised by the United States Olympic Committee (USOC).

Meetings of PASO Technical and Marketing Commissions have also taken place here over the last two days.

Preparations for the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima are expected to dominate discussions as PASO keep a close watch on progress following the raising of a series of problems in April.

The opening of a regional office here will also be discussed following a meeting here between Ilic, his secretary general Ivar Sisniega and representatives from Miami County Authorities.

The main PASO headquarters are set to remain in Mexico City but a second base is due to be opened here.

Exactly what is done at each office is expected to be among items discussed.

Other housekeeping matters will also be considered in relation to the structure of the body following the change in leadership.

Improving the marketing and promotion of PASO's work is one key, already highlighted by the setting up of new Facebook and Twitter pages.

The meeting tomorrow will be followed by a Seminar in which USOC chair Larry Probst and chief executive Scott Blackmun will be among those participating.

High performance and leadership are due to be key themes.
