Rebecca Meyers impressed for the second consecutive day at the World Para Swimming World Series event in Indianapolis.

The American, who earned three gold medals at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, claimed two victories today.

Her first triumph came in the women’s S14 50 metres freestyle event by touching home in a time of 29.44 seconds.

Colleen Young ended as the runner-up in 29.45, with an all-American podium completed by Martha Ruether in 29.48.

Meyers secured her second gold of the day in the women’s SM13 200m individual medley, winning the event in a time of 2min 32.17sec.

The top three was rounded off by Young and Madeleine Babcock, who clocked 2:36.72 and 3:36.37 over the distance.

“I felt strong and I finished strong,” said Meyers.

“It was fun to swim with my team-mates, Colleen and Martha, and to go 1-2-3.

“It’s a good indication of where I stand this season and what I need to work on as I gear up for the World Championships in Mexico City.”

Australia’s six-time Paralympic champion Ellie Cole was also among the victors on the second day of competition.

She won the S9 women’s 100m backstroke title in a time of 1:10.96, with the United States’ Hannah Aspden finishing 6sec adrift.

Britain’s Toni Shaw finished in third place in 1:18.19.

Daniel Dias, Brazil’s most decorated Paralympian, claimed two victories on his debut appearance at the event.

The 14-time Paralympic champion won the S5 men’s 50m backstroke in 35.95.

He added to the victory by clocking 32.77 in the 50m freestyle event, with Mohammad Abas Karimi of Afghanistan second in 39.66.

Sebastian Ortiz Serrano of Puerto Rico was third in 1:04.07.

Competition will conclude in Indianapolis tomorrow.
