Montenegro secured the women's team kata title on the final day of the European Karate Championships for Regions in Kosovo's capital Pristina.

The final at the city's Sports Hall saw Montenegro Two claim a comprehensive 5-0 win over Romania.

Turkey's Marmara region secured the bronze medal yesterday.

Montenegro were then denied a second title of the day when the Swiss Karate Federation defeated them 2-1 in the women's kumite final.

To the delight of the host nation, Kosovo A and Turkey's Aegean region were crowned bronze medallists yesterday.

Only two sides were competing in the men's team kata event meaning teams representing the Italian region of Veneto and Turkey's Marmara automatically progressed to the final.

The Marmara region claimed the gold medal with a 3-2 win.

The men's team kumite final saw Macedonia defeat Turkey's Akdeniz region 2-0.

Both Kosovo A and Montenegro One clinched the bronze medals.

This year's event was the 15th edition of the European Karate Championships for Regions.

Antonio Espinós, the President of the European Karate Federation (EKF) and World Karate Federation (WKF), has claimed the event has been continuously increasing in size and in quality since its inception in 2003.
