Najam Sethi is in line to become the new Pakistan Cricket Board chairman after a unanimous decision was made at their Annual General Meeting to elect him for the position.

Sethi has previously been in the same role between June 2013 and July 2014 and replaces Shaharyar Khan, who had succeeded him three years ago.

Khan’s term will officially end in August and he was given a standing ovation at the meeting before the vote took place.

Sethi is also the chairman of the Pakistan Super League, a domestic Twenty20 competition first played in 2016.

During the AGM, he revealed eight games would be played in the country in next season’s tournament.

These will be split between Lahore and Karachi.

In the first two seasons, games have been played in Dubai and Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates due to safety concerns within Pakistan.

However, this year’s final was contested at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
