US Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) are poised to appoint their first chief commercial officer on Monday (May 29) after a five month recruitment process.

Dan Barnett is expected to be confirmed in the post, which will end the USSA’s search for an individual who will lead their marketing efforts.

Barnett is currently the chief commercial officer of the America’s Cup event authority and Oracle Team USA.

He has been responsible for raising the profile and commercial value of the America’s Cup.

Barnett will be tasked with boosting the USSA’s commercial and marketing efforts, which will involve providing a strategic vision.

USSA will hope the appointment helps to continue the growth of their brand.

They will be looking to use Barnett’s global marketing and commercial experience, gained from previous roles in sport and media companies.

He has previously had responsibilities for event management, commercial negotiations and media development.

Barnett is expected to be present for USSA’s partner summit, which is set to take place from June 21 to 23.

The appointment comes as USSA build towards the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympic Games, which will take place from February 9 to 25.

USSA are the national governing body of Olympic skiing and snowboarding, as well as being the parent organisation of the US Ski Team, US Snowboarding and US Freeskiing.
