The 17th edition of the Paris Sambo Grand Prix is set to take place at the Charléty Stadium tomorrow, when medals will be awarded in a total of 29 categories.

Action is scheduled to take place in both sport sambo and combat sambo.

Sport sambo will see men compete in the under 52 kilograms, under 57kg, under 62kg, under 68kg, under 74kg, under 82kg, under 90kg, under 100kg and over 100kg categories.

Women will contest the under 48kg, under 52kg, under 56kg, under 60kg, under 64kg, under 68kg, under 72kg and over 72kg divisions.

The nine men’s combat sambo categories are under 52kg, under 57kg, under 62kg, under 68kg, under 74kg, under 82kg, under 90kg, under 100kg and over 100kg, while the women’s are under 56kg, under 64kg and over 64kg.

There will only be one age category for both styles with a mix of youth, juniors and adults competing in sport sambo and junior and adults contesting combat sambo.

Preliminary rounds will be followed by the Opening Ceremony and finals.

The event comes hot on the heels of last weekend’s European Sambo Championships in Belarus’ capital Minsk, where Russia topped the medal standings with 18 golds.
