Drzonkow is poised to stage the fourth event of the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM) World Cup season, with athletes looking to secure their places at the series final.

The event in Poland is the final opportunity for athletes to gain World Cup points to try and qualify for the World Cup Final in Vilnius, Lithuania, during June.

Drzonkow hosted last year's Junior European Championships and organisers will hope it stages an equally successful World Cup event.

A total of 25 countries are expected to attend.

Qualification for the men's and women's competitions is due to take place tomorrow and Friday (May 26).

Finals will then be held in Poland, while a mixed relay event will also be contested.

Pentathlon GB have confirmed they will not take part in the relay to allow athletes more time to prepare for the National Championships.

Joe Choong will mark his return to World Cup competition after taking time out after the Rio 2016 Olympics to focus on his maths degree.

Jamie Cooke and Tom Toolis will join him in the men's team, while Samantha Murray, Joanna Muir and Francesca Summers will all compete in the women's event.

The World Cup season began in Los Angeles, before Cairo and Kecskemét staged the second and third events.

Vilnius will stage the World Cup Final from June 23 to 25.
