Mohammad Nawaz has been suspended for two months as part of the ongoing investigation into corruption during the Pakistan Super League season.

Last week, the 23-year-old, who has played three Tests and nine One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for his country, was officially summoned by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to appear before their security and vigilance department.

According to a PCB statement, Nawaz has now admitted to the charges and been suspended as well as fined Rs200,000 (£1,460/$1,900/€1,700).

Nawaz "failed to disclose to the PCB vigilance and security department full details of the approaches and invitations received by him to engage in corrupt conduct", the statement read.

The ban is effective from May 16, but Nawaz could return to cricket after a month if he fulfils certain criteria.

There must be no further or additional breach to the PCB's code while he must also attend an anti-corruption education course.

It comes as the PCB continue to look into spot-fixing allegations involving several players during the second season of the Pakistan Super League, a domestic Twenty20 competition.

Proceedings have already been opened against suspended players Sharjeel Khan, Khalid Latif, Nasir Jamshed and Shahzaib Hassan, with all four being provisionally suspended.

Jamshed was arrested by the National Crime Agency in Great Britain along with two other men, although the trio were later released on bail.

Another player, Zulfiqar Babar, has also been questioned by the PCB.

Fast bowler Mohammad Irfan, who has played 60 ODIs for Pakistan, has already been banned for a year after admitting to not informing the authorities of two approaches made to him by bookmakers.

Six months of this suspension will be suspended should Irfan, who is 7ft 1in tall, also follow a series of conditions.
