International Cricket Council (ICC) Champions Trophy tournament director Steve Elworthy has said demand for tickets has been "extraordinary" so far after over 15,000 tickets were sold in one week.

Eight out of the 15 fixtures are now sold out and ticket sales at this stage have already exceeded those for the ICC Champions Trophy 2013, which was also held at the three venues being used this time – the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff, Edgbaston in Birmingham and The Oval in London.

The figures also take ticket applications to beyond 500,000 from 60 countries, since the ballot last September.

Two group stage matches involving the host nation, England, have sold out with only limited tickets remaining for the game against New Zealand in Cardiff on June 6.

Games against Bangladesh on June 1 and Australia on June 10 have already attracted capacity crowds.

All the matches involving defending champions India, as well as the semi-finals and final are also sold out.

“The demand has been extraordinary so far but there are still limited tickets available for some matches across all venues," said Elworthy.

“Again we stress that fans should only buy tickets from authorised ticket sites, which is why we are providing a resale service.

"It will allow fans to sell any unwanted tickets at face value to fellow fans in a safe and secure way.

"This is the only way you guarantee a ticket and avoid disappointment.”

More information on when and how to buy tickets on the tour is available here.

Action at the 50-over tournament will take place between June 1 and 18.

Hosts England will clash with Australia, New Zealand and Bangladesh at the tournament.

India, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka will contest Group B.

Fans can sell tickets they no longer require through the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 resale service here.
