The International Floorball Federation (IFF) has unveiled new branding, which it claims will "give a structure and visual system to international floorball events".

The new identity, which replaces branding launched in 2006, will be applied to the IFF's website and social media channels as well as tournaments overseen by the governing body.

The IFF has decided to revamp its look in a bid to "create a modern and distinct identity", a statement on its website claimed.

John Liljelund, the IFF secretary general, thinks that the organisation's branding required a major overhaul and believes it will raise the profile of the sport.

"There has been a burning need to modernise the IFF logo and update the IFF event corporate identity to match the requirements of the world of today," said Liljelund.

"We are very proud of our dynamic new logo and believe it will increase the awareness of the sport.

"I would like to thank Czech Floorball for their cooperation in the process of finding and producing the new logo, which is very versatile and user-friendly and represents our growing sport's uniqueness."

The World Floorball Championships in 2018, due to be held in Prague, will be the first major floorball event to use the revamped identity.

"We have designed the IFF logo as a radical face-lift to the previous one," a statement from Dynamo design, which helped to create the branding, said.

"We knew we had to strip it down to the basics while underscoring the obvious dynamics of the game of floorball.

"We achieved this with the lean and slightly skewed typography placed off the centre of the ball [representing the Earth].

"The dominant colour is the signature turquoise that is used for floorball surfaces.

"Combined with dark blue it commands a nice contrast and fresh sporting look."

The development of the multimedia face of the IFF is set to continue with a new look website, which will be introduced in 2018.
