Second seed Tian Houwei won an epic encounter with compatriot Qiao Bin to clinch the men's singles title at the Badminton World Federation (BWF) China Masters.

The all-Chinese affair proved to be a thriller as Tian, a double world junior champion, overcame the third seed 21-15, 15-21, 21-16 in a match which lasted one hour and 15 minutes at the Olympic Sports Center in Changzhou.

Having taken the first game, the momentum appeared to be with Tian but Qiao, who beat top seed Lin Dan to reach the final, fought back admirably to level the contest.

But it was Tian who emerged triumphant, winning a nervy decider to ensure he finished at the summit of the podium.

The women's singles final also went the distance as Japan's Aya Ohori, seeded second, ousted team-mate Saena Kawakami 21-9, 9-21, 21-18.

Success was guaranteed for China in the women's doubles as unseeded duo Bao Yixin and Yu Xiaohan took on fourth seeds Huang Yaqiong and Tang Jinhua.

In a surprise result, Bao and Yu fought back from a game down to secure the title with a 8-21, 21-14, 21-17 victory in one hour and 11 minutes.

The men's doubles final went to the form book as top seeds Chen Hung Ling and Chi-Lin Wang beat Takuto Inoue and Yuki Kaneko 21-14, 21-6.

China clinched the other crown on offer on the last day of the tournament as Wang Yilyu and Huang Dongping accounted for Liao Min Chun and Chen Hsiao Huan 21-14, 21-10 to win the mixed doubles event.
