Russia secured their place in the super final of the 2017 International Swimming Federation (FINA) Women's Water Polo World League after claiming a home win over Greece at the Zvezdnyi in Astrakhan in the final round of European qualification matches 

A 20-11 victory ensures the Rio 2016 bronze medallists top spot in Group A with seven points, finishing ahead of The Netherlands by virtue of a better goal difference - 52-41 against 36-38.

The Dutch are also going through to the super final thanks to a better win-loss record in Group A to that of Italy in Group B.

Italy lost 12-10 at home to Hungary at the Piscina Comunale in Avezzano today, meaning they ended up on two wins to The Netherlands’ three.

Hungary is the only team from Group B going through to the super final, with a clear four wins and a total of 11 points.

Greece and France finished bottom of Groups A and B respectively.

The super final of the 2017 FINA Women's Water Polo World League is due to be played from June 6 to 11 in Chinese city Shanghai.

Four teams from an Intercontinental Tournament, which is due to be held in American city Sacramento from May 2 to 7, will also qualify for the super final with China given an automatic berth.
