The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has officially launched ticket pre-registration for the 2018 Hockey World Cups in England and India.

The women's event will be held at the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London between July 21 and August 5.

The Kalinga Stadium in Indian city Bhubaneswar will host the men's tournament on yet to be confirmed dates in November or December.

Those wishing to attend can now register their interest in purchasing tickets on the brand new Hockey World Cups 2018 website, which can be found here.

The 2018 World Cups will be the first competitions staged under an expanded 16-team format, with four groups of four.

This allows the FIH to hold the events over 16 days, which will include three weekends.

It is designed to increase the amount of spectators for the FIH's flagship competitions outside of the Olympic Games.

The winners of each pool will qualify for the quarter-finals while the other four spots in the last eight will be decided after games between the second and third placed sides.

Australia are the reigning men's World Cup champions after they defeated host nation The Netherlands 6-1 in The Hague in 2014.

The Women's World Cup final saw the reverse scoreline with the hosts claiming a 2-0 win over Australia.

After launching the new website, two brand new logos for the Hockey World Cups were also revealed, based on the trophies presented to the winners of both competitions.

"The launch of the new World Cups website and pre-registration for tickets marks an important milestone in the countdown to the Hockey World Cups," said FIH chief executive Jason McCracken.

"Apart from the Olympic Games, our World Cups are the pinnacle of the sport.

"The content being shared across our digital channels will really boost excitement among fans and athletes in the lead up to these events, which I'm sure will further increase during the Hockey World League Semi-Finals - our World Cup qualifiers in June and July."
