Anaheim 2017 have revealed the official logo for the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) World Championships.

It is claimed the logo depicts an athlete, mid-lift, raising a stylised sun overhead.

The design is also said to "marry the beauty of the sport and Anaheim's position as a sun soaked destination in Southern California".

American organisers also said that the logo reflects Los Angeles 2024's Olympic bid slogan "Follow the Sun", with Anaheim part of the city's metropolitan area.

"We think this logo ties together everything we want to tell the world about this event," said Phil Andrews, USA Weightlifting's chief executive.

"Weightlifting is a beautiful sport, Anaheim is a beautiful city.

"This logo helps us tell that story."

The World Championships will take place from November 28 to December 5 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

More than 300 athletes from 70 countries are expected to compete at the Championships, which are being held in the United States for the second consecutive edition.

It follows Houston staging the 2015 edition of the event.

“Anaheim is thrilled to host the 2017 IWF World Championships," said Roy Edmondson, vice president of Sports Anaheim.

"The new logo marries the essence and warmth of Anaheim with the strength and beauty of weightlifting.

"The city of Anaheim can't wait for the best of the best of weightlifting to descend on our city later this year."

It is claimed that thousands of fans, technical officials and coaches from around the world will attend the event, which will inject millions of dollars into the California economy.
