Gold Coast 2018 have officially welcomed representatives from Commonwealth Games Associations (CGA) on the eve of the one-year to go milestone for the Games.

Barbados, the Isle of Man, Malaysia, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Tonga and Wales are among those present.

They were welcomed by Gold Coast 2018 chairman Peter Beattie and the organisation's chief executive Mark Peters.

Commonwealth Games Australia are also represented as their athletes prepare to compete at a home Games.

Australian Chef de Mission Steve Moneghetti is due to attend events marking one-year to the Games, including a breakfast with City of Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate.

A number of athletes will also be present at the morning event, including Gold Coast 2018 ambassador Sally Pearson, fresh from claiming the national women's 100 metres hurdles title.

Athletes from all 23 sports and disciplines featured at the Games will then help to launch the competition schedule.

Organisers revealed ticket prices back in November, but they are poised to provide a full guide to help the public as the request phase for tickets begins.

A community celebration is due to take place on Surfers Paradise Beach tomorrow evening, with proceedings set to get underway at 6pm local time.

Several live acts will be part of the celebrations, including Australian chart toppers Sheppard and local artists Sunset City.

Gold Coast 2018 mascot Borobi is also set to be present, while a "gravity defying light projection show" will illuminate the sky.

The free celebration will be one of several activities held by the organisers across Australia, with Sydney and Melbourne set to host netball themed events.

Athletes and the general public will attempt to shoot as many netball goals as they can within one hour, with a target of 2,018.

The events are taking place at First Fleet Park at Circular Quay in Sydney, as well as Federation Square in Melbourne.
