Brazil enjoyed a superb second day of competition with two gold medals at the International Judo Federation (IJF) Grand Prix in Tblisi.

First, Maria Portela took gold in the women's under 70 kilograms division in the New Sports Arena.

Victor Penalber then won the final event of the day in the men's under 81kg category.

Portela won a tense final against Elvismar Rodriguez, who was competing under the IJF flag due to a Venezuelan Judo Federation suspension.

The bout was heading towards a golden score period before Rodriguez conceded a second shido penalty.

Natascha Ausma of The Netherlands shared bronze with Hungary's Szabina Gercsak.

Penalber produced a superb sode-tsuri-komi-goshi for ippon against four-time Grand Slam medallist Alan Khubetsov of Russia in the final bout of the day.
