The 29-year-old, who had already secured top honours in the women’s parallel sprint and women’s classic events, posted an unrivalled time of 2 min 3.92sec.

As was the case in the previous two competitions, home favourite Argeline Tan Bouquet came second.

Tan Bouquet finished 3.44sec behind, while Norway’s Mathilde Olsen Ilebrekke was 4.75 back in third.

In the men’s sprint event, Germany’s Tobias Mueller came out on top to add a gold medal to the bronze he won in yesterday’s men’s classic.

A time of 1:52.68 saw him beat nearest challenger Trym Nygaard Loeken of Norway by 0.57.

France’s Philippe Lau, the winner of the men’s parallel sprint, finished 1.95 seconds off the pace in third.

The telemark discipline features elements of both Alpine and Nordic skiing.
