The World Taekwondo Federation (WTF) has extended the bid registration deadline for events from 2018 to 2020 to April 14.

The body claims the extension "reflects lots of requests from the bidders in need of more time for their internal processes".

Bid files must be submitted by May 19, with an expert group’s evaluation scheduled for June 8.

Presentation of bids and host city selection is due to take place on June 22, during the WTF Council meeting in Muju in South Korea.

Among the events on offer for 2018 are the World Taekwondo Junior Championships, with the chosen hosts also being granted the right to organise the qualification tournament for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires.

Next year’s World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final and World Taekwondo Team Championships, which can be hosted in conjunction with one another, are also up for grabs.

The events available in 2019 are the World Para Taekwondo Championships and the first and third legs of the World Taekwondo Grand Prix Series, while those in 2020 are the World Taekwondo Junior Championships, the World Taekwondo Grand Prix Final and the World Taekwondo Team Championships.
