The National Olympic Committee of Albania (KOKSH) has outlined the four-year Olympic Solidarity programme to the country's sports Federations at a seminar.

The event was attended by around 30 participants from Federations and the KOKSH.

KOKSH Executive Committee members were also present, along with representatives of the Ministry of Education and Sports and national media.

Olympic scholarships, professional training, training of sports administrators and promotion of Olympic values were the four main items on the agenda.

The KOKSH has asked the various Federations within the country to increase participation in sports administrators courses to ensure athletes from Albania have a head-start in their professional careers after their time as an athlete.

"The scholarship programme is very important, but in addition to this programme, the KOKSH has also benefited from other programmes of Olympic Solidarity," KOKSH President Viron Bezhani said.

"We will continue to put the emphasis on gender equality in sport."

It was also explained during the event that athletes who have tested positive for banned substances would not be able to apply for scholarships.

Upcoming events, such as the European Olympic Youth Festival in Győr in Hungary and next year's Mediterranean Games in Tarragona, were discussed.

Participants were also informed about preparations for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.

"The conversations and exchanges of experiences enabled the NOC to provide feedback to improve multi-year cooperation in the promotion and further development of sport, not only in the country but also internationally," the KOSH said in a statement.
