The penultimate round of action in the women’s International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup is due to start tomorrow in Squaw Valley.

Races in the giant slalom and slalom disciplines are taking place at the Californian resort before competitors move across the United States to Aspen from March 15 to 19.

US skier Mikaela Shiffrin has already secured the crystal globe for slalom this season.

Shiffrin is currently top of the overall World Cup standings with 1,323 points, 178 ahead of Slovenian Ilka Stuhec, while Swiss skier Lara Gut is in third on 1,023, just two in front of Italian Sofia Goggia.
