After his epic tie-breaker experience yesterday, Sir Andy Murray had an easier day on court as he made the Dubai Tennis Championship final.

The world number one from Great Britain won in straight sets against Frenchman Lucas Pouille 7-5, 6-1 today at the ATP 500 event.

Yesterday, Murray had to seven match points in his quarter-final tie with Germany’s Philipp Kohlschreiber during a second set tie-break, which the 29-year-old eventually won 20-18.

Murray made a slow start to the match and the Briton said the previous day’s action might have taken a bit of a toll on him.

“I think potentially matches yesterday had something to do with that, because I think sometimes, you know, if your legs are a little bit tired that the serve is one of the first things that goes,” he said.

“As the match went on, I started serving a bit better and that helped me.”

Awaiting Murray in tomorrow’s final will be Fernando Verdasco.

The Spaniard needed three sets to defeat Dutch player Robin Haase, but eventually made it through 7-6, 5-7, 6-1.

Heading into the clash, Murray has won 12 of the 13 previous encounters between the two.
