The International Luge Federation (FIL) World Cup is set to draw to a close this weekend in the German town of Altenberg with the men’s event the only discipline yet to crown a winner.

Russian Roman Repilov currently sits at the top of the standings, but could theoretically still lose top spot.

The two-time junior world champion and this year’s runner-up in the World Championships in Innsbruck currently leads the overall standings on 745 points.

Following narrowly behind in second is Repilov's team-mate Semen Pavlichenko on 674 while Felix Loch of Germany, the current World Cup title holder and Sochi 2014 Olympic champion, occupies third on 663.

Austria's Wolfgang Kindl follows in fourth place on 654 ahead of last week's winner in Pyeongchang, Italian Dominik Fischnaller, who sits in fifth on 501.

The men's race is set to take place tomorrow (February 25) alongside the pairs event.

Sunday will then see the conclusion of the World Cup season with the women's and team relay competitions.

All of the other disciplines have already crowned champions.

In the women’s event, the title was awarded to Sochi 2014 Olympic champion Natalie Geisenberger of Germany for the fifth time.

The victory brought her level with record-breaking winners Silke Kraushaar-Pielach and Tatjana Hüfner, both also of Germany.

In the doubles event, World Champions Toni Eggert and Sascha Benecken of Germany snared the title from Sochi 2014 champions Tobias Wendl and Tobias Arlt.

There was further German dominance in the relay World Cup as they won the title for the seventh consecutive time.
