Commonwealth Games England (CGE) have made three appointments to their staff as they continue to step up preparations for Gold Coast 2018.

Frankie Kelly has joined as sport operations manager while Harriet Smith has been appointed as Games project manager and Laura Spaven has agreed to become the organisation's commercial account manager.

"I believe that we have a fantastic team in place to deliver a successful team England at the 2018 Gold Coast Games and am delighted to welcome Laura, Frankie and Harriet on board," Sarah Winckless, England's Chef de Mission for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, said.

“We have a big task on our hands to send a team of over 600 athletes and staff to the Gold Coast and ensure they are given the best possible environment to perform at their highest levels next year.

"I am confident that the variety of experience with these three new members of the team will be greatly beneficial in delivering our aims.”

Kelly joins CGE from her previous role as development manager at Youth Sports Trust, while she has also worked as head of volunteer engagement at British Swimming.

She will work closely with Sports Director Don Parker in preparing the England team for next year's Games in Gold Coast, which run from April 4 to 15.

Former Tennis Australia events and operations coordinator Smith will be responsible for delivering major cross-functional projects and events in conjunction with a range of governing bodies, partners and stakeholders.

"I'm thrilled to have joined the team at Commonwealth Games England," said Smith.

"With just over a year of planning and preparation left, I can’t wait to see all of the hard work come to life on the Gold Coast in 2018."

Spaven spent over two-and-a-half years working on the commercial side of the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England.

She joins CGE from Octagon Marketing, where she worked with Delta Airlines and English Premier League side Chelsea.
