The World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) has invited applications for its 2017 development grants.

A budget of $24,000 (£19,000/€23,000) is available for development projects across the world, including WFDF coaching clinics and other initiatives.

Individual grants are limited to no more than $1,500 (£1,200/€1,400) each, with a closing date for applications of April 23.

"The development grants programme, which is running in its fourth year in 2017, reflects our ongoing effort to fully meet our strategic goals as set out in our current strategic plan for 2015-2018," said WFDF President Robert Rauch.

"The programme for 2017 has renewed our commitment to use a portion of our available resources for individual projects brought to the WFDF Sport for All and Development Commission by Member Associations or individuals fostering grass-root development of flying disc activities.

"After review by the Commission, all projects will also be carefully evaluated by our new sustainability officer Johanna von Toggenburg, before being submitted to the Board."

Last year, projects funded by grants were hosted in South Africa, Ukraine, Bolivia and Sri Lanka.

"We want to support projects that show sustainability and long term impact," said Gabriele Sani, chairman of the WFDF Sport for All and Development Commission.

"In the past we have backed a variety of initiatives, including the creation of new national federations, youth development programmes, coaching courses and community building projects.

"Our aims in 2017 will focus on introducing disc sports into new countries and support role model projects promoting the values as set out in the IOC Olympic Agenda 2020, including activities in developing continents, spirit of the game education, and youth programmes as well as projects for flying disc for the disabled.

"We also will support establishing organisation infrastructure, in particular in African countries with coordination with WFDF's All Africa Flying Disc Federation, as well as in the Middle East."
