Paralympic gold medallist Evan Strong of the United States won a thrilling men's banked slalom SB-LL2 race on the penultimate day of action at the Para Snowboard World Cup at La Molina in Spain.

The American clocked a best time of 40.02sec to top the podium in front of Britain's Owen Pick and Keith Gabel of the United States, who took silver and bronze respectively.

The result saw Strong retain his lead at the summit of the overall standings and came after he finished outside of the podium places at the World Para Snowboard Championships earlier this month.

The women's SB-LL2 banked slalom event also proved to be an interesting affair as Lisa Bunschoten of The Netherlands wrapped up her third straight victory with a best time of 46.12.

Spain’s Astrid Fina Paredes had set the time to beat in the first run before the Dutch competitor surpassed it in the third.

The Spaniard claimed the silver medal, with bronze going to Bunschoten's compatriot Renske van Beek.

Italy’s Manuel Pozzerle snatched the gold medal from reigning world champion Maxime Montaggioni of France in a closely-fought men's SB-UL race after he stopped the clock at 40.93 in his final run.

Montaggioni had to settle for silver, while Mike Minor of the US took home bronze.

Reinhold Schett of Austria produced a dominant performance to seal the men's SB-LL1 crown in a time of 42.87 as he was the fastest on all three runs.

Chris Vos added to the Dutch medal haul by clinching silver, with Mark Mann of the US rounding out the podium.

The event in La Molina concludes with the second set of banked slalom races tomorrow.
