FIBA executive director Europe Kamil Novak confirmed the city would host the events at the House of Sports on Museumplein, considered one of the most iconic squares in Amsterdam.

This year's Europe Cup will be the third edition of the event and is due to be held from July 7 to 9.

The dates for the sixth FIBA 3x3 World Cup have not yet been revealed.

Both events will be hosted by the Dutch Basketball Federation and will be organised by Amsterdam-based sports marketing agency TIG Sports.

A total of 46 teams across both men's and women's competitions have entered the Europe Cup but only 12 in each competition will secure a spot at the main tournament.

Qualification events are scheduled to take place in Poitiers in France on June 23 and 24 and in Escaldes-Engordany in Andorra from June 24 to 25.

The announcement marks a further boost for the format in The Netherlands, who currently sit fourth in the FIBA 3x3 world rankings.

Their men's and women's under-18 sides are the number one ranked teams.

The Netherlands claimed the bronze medal at last year's FIBA 3x3 European Championships in Bucharest as they saw off the challenge of Russia, while the women's under-18 team took silver at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing.

FIBA remain keen on 3x3, a format of the sport which is growing increasingly popular, being granted a place on the Olympic Games programme in future.
