Maggie Voison of the United States claimed a memorable slopestye win on home snow today in the International Ski Federation (FIS) Freestyle Skiing World Cup.

Voison earned a score of 91.40 to narrowly take her first World Cup victory and claim maximum points at Mammoth Mountain in California.

She produced a left 270 on the first rail, a front 270 off a pyramid gap, a switch to switch on a flat tube followed by a switch left 180 leading into a right 540 mute.

Voison then added a switch left 540 high safety and cork and left 900 tail to finish.

"I'm just so grateful that the weather was able to hold out for the ladies today," said Voisin, after conditions had delayed action at Mammoth Mountain.

"I'm happy to put my run down and I hope to keep the momentum rolling throughout the season."

The 19-year-old, who was selected for the US Sochi 2014 Olympic team but fractured her right fibula above her ankle and was therefore unable to compete, narrowly beat Switzerland's Mathilde Gremaud by 1.40 points.

Gremaud was awarded a score of 90.00 as she took second while Johanne Killi of Norway completed the podium as she took third with a score of 88.80.

Unfortunately, poor weather continued and as soon as the men's field began their runs another storm arrived, bringing high winds combined with heavy snow that forced the cancellation of the event.

Men's snowboard halfpipe action was also cancelled, although the women's competition was won by American Kelly Clark with a score of 91.75.

Silver went to Haruna Matsumoto of Japan on 87.50 as Hannah Teter of the US scored 86.25 for bronze.
