Sweden secured top spot in their group at the World Bandy Championship today after beating Russia 10-6 in a winner-takes-all clash.

The host nation set up a tie with Germany, after they were thrashed 17-3 by Norway, tomorrow in the quarter-finals thanks to the result.

Russia and Sweden began the day tied on points at the top of Group A, but the Eastern European country will now face Belarus in the next round after they lost 14-5 to the United States.

Finland defeated Kazakhstan 5-3 in their final group match and will now meet the US team tomorrow.

Kazakhstan and Norway, who won Group B, will play each other in the other quarter final.

The competitions final is due to be played on Sunday (February 5).
