This year's Asian Youth Para Games have been awarded to Dubai.

The decision to select the United Arab Emirates city was confirmed today by the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC).

Competition will take place between December 10 and 14, with action taking place at co-organisers the Dubai Club for the Disabled.

The Club is no stranger to hosting top Para-sport action, including International Paralympic Committee athletics events and the Fazza International Para-Archery Championship.

An estimated 600 athletes will take part in Dubai, and all must be under the age of 20.

They will compete in 10 sports: athletics, swimming, boccia, goalball, archery, chess, badminton, ten-pin bowling, powerlifting and table tennis.

APC President Majid Rashed praised the choice of Dubai.

"Today’s announcement is another demonstration of our commitment to building the Paralympic movement in Asia," he said.

"It’s vital that we provide opportunities for young athletes to compete in a multi-sport environment and this will hopefully inspire them to continue on their sporting journey which may lead ultimately to the Paralympic Games."’

This year's event will be the third edition of the Asian Youth Para Games, which take place every four years.

The 2013 Games were held in Malaysia's capital Kuala Lumpur, after the 2009 edition in Japanese capital Tokyo.
