Cross-country skiers are heading to Falun in Sweden tomorrow for the latest stage of the International Ski Federation (FIS) World Cup.

Both the men’s and women’s competitions will be at the resort for 1.4 kilometre sprint races, starting with qualification rounds before the finals.

The following day, the men will being skiing 30km while the women take on a course half that size.

Norway’s Martin Johnsrud Sundby leads the men’s World Cup overall standings with 1,218 points, a tally which has put him 257 ahead of Russian Sergey Ustiugov.

Sitting in third place currently is Finland’s Matti Heikkinen with 741 while Alex Harvey of Canada, who won last weekend’s 15km race in Ulricehamn, Sweden, is a further 47 points behind in fourth.

Despite not being on an individual podium since January 8 in Val di Fiemme in Italy, Norwegian Heidi Weng still leads the way in the women’s World Cup standings with 1,391 points.

She is 279 ahead of Finland’s Krista Parmako Ski while Norway’s Ingvild Flugstad Oestberg is third on 1,072.
