The World Squash Federation (WSF) has updated its specifications for squash courts.

The WSF squash court specifications will provide a source of information for all architects and builders giving details of dimensions, materials and tolerances for court flooring, walls, lighting and other facets that make up a squash court.

New courts must be built to the specifications and must only use WSF accredited products for WSF World and Regional Championship events.

The specification defines recommended standards for singles and doubles courts internationally.

It also aims to ensure comparability of recommended size and quality standards for courts internationally and acts as a guide to manufacturers, builders and designers on suitable standards of construction and design.

The WSF also released their list of accredited products that are trusted.

The governing body operates an accreditation scheme for courts and equipment whereby materials and components are tested against the recommended standards set by the Federation.

Manufacturers of court materials and components may apply for such accreditation and gain approval for their product as “WSF Approved and Certified”.

"WSF provides the WSF Court Specifications so that there is one comprehensive source of technical information for all involved in the court construction process," said Chris Herridge, the WSF Technical Committee Director who managed the updating process.

"This, linked to the WSF Accredited Product listing of those materials that are known to be excellent, suitable materials ensures that for players, whatever their standard, will have a very good court in which to play."
