Poland's Kamil Stoch claimed his fifth consecutive International Ski Federation (FIS) Ski Jumping World Cup victory on his home hill in Zakopane today.

The 29-year-old double Olympic champion was only sixth after the first jumps but produced a stunning final effort in front of 40,000 home fans.

His leaps of 130.5 metres and 131m gave him a winning points tally of 287.4 as Germans claimed the second and third spots on the podium.

Andreas Wellinger took silver with 135m and 133m for 285.8 points, with Richard Freitag taking bronze with jumps of 132.5m and 131m for 284.2 points.

Stoch has now won all three World Cup events in his home country this season, after a pair of victories in Wisla last weekend.

The Four Hills champion has also extended his lead at the top of the overall World Cup standings thanks to his sixth victory of the campaign.

"I can't believe it, it's like a dream," he said.

"Of course I'm satisfied with what I achieved today, especially my second jump was really good.

"The level of the competition was very high and even though the spectators might not have seen it, the conditions were difficult.

"The wind was changing a lot.

"After the first round I didn't think about the podium anymore, I was just focusing on my jump.

"I want to thank all the fans here and in front of the TV, it was great."

Stoch now has 933 points on top of the overall standings, with Daniel Andre Tande of Norway second on 803 points.

Domen Prevc of Slovenia sits third on 780.

The next leg of the World Cup season will take place in Willingen in Germany on January 29.
