Competition at the World Air Sports Federation (FAI) World Gliding Championships in Australian city Benalla has been cancelled completely for the second time in four days due to bad weather.

It follows the cancellation of all the action on day one and competition in the 15 metres and 18m classes on day two.

The Championships are held every two years with competitors battling for honours across the 15m, 18m and open classes.

They involve "tasks" being flown and scored.

In a task, pilots must make their way around a pre-determined course, which is different each day depending on the weather, and tag turn-points using a navigation system.

Competitors race against each other to complete the course in the quickest time possible.

More than 100 pilots from 27 countries have descended on Benalla for the 2017 edition.

It is hoped action will resume tomorrow.
